About the Artist JEAN LARSON studied painting at Central Michigan University and Northwestern Michigan College. She now divides her time between a small village in rural France, which provides much of the inspiration for her recent work, and various parts of the United States.
LARSON'S paintings are representational in as much as they depict flowers, but they are not necessarily flowers in a traditional sense. She is primarily interested in the emotional interplay between light and color, which is inspired by the environments in which she lives. On a number of occasions, LARSON has observed the deep emotional response people have felt when first encountering her paintings, and she is particularly gratified when the work is not talked about, but experienced.
"A flower opens to the light, boldly displays its colors to the world, and then withers away. These are the stages of life I witness and experience, each with its own beauty and wisdom. I have learned much from flowers." Jean Larson
