At this point in my career, the focus on my work is on the basics: color, surface, edges, materials. Simple things.
Colors and their infinite permutations are the primary content of my paintings. I arrive at a final color by dry-brushing multiple layers of oil paint (usually many different colors) on linen. By keeping the layers very sheer, I am able to maintain the character of the linen and present a penetrable surface. The edges-- the intersection of the edges within the painting, as well as the relationship of the painting to the limits of the support -- are also considerations. My process is often tedious, but ultimately, oddly satisfying.
